A Raku ware pottery vase created by award-winning local artist Al Letner. From the artist --------------- My beginnings with clay and art, in general, began in college. After my adventures with the military, I transferred my credits to a small Midwestern College in Pittsburg, KS, and was fortunate to find myself in a dynamic and competitive art environment in the early 1970’s. Graduating in 1976 with a degree in Education, I spent the next 30 years teaching and learning about clay as well as other art media. I have taught on the High School and College level, adult night classes, workshops and demonstrations involving several media from clay to collage and sculpture. As far as my work goes, each piece is an individual work of art/craft. No two are the same and all work is signed by me and my studio stamps are usually applied at the foot ring. I control the process of design, creation, and firing, personally. No one else works in my studio. I work in series and try to develop a particular design direction to its conclusion, and then move on. To chronicle my influences would seem similar to most of the generation of potters I come from; the Oriental cultures, as well as design concepts from other disciplines, be they architecture, collage’, or simply nature itself.
An additional shipping & handling fee of $15 applies.
A note from Michael Fienen: Shipping and handling fees are OPTIONAL for local buyers. This auction is being ran to help raise funds to stock the Wesley House Food Pantry. As you know, dollars don't stretch quite as far at the grocery store lately, and that affects food banks as well as individuals. Along with gracious community and business donors, my cousin and I have committed a share of our Kansas City Chiefs memorabilia to sell in order to raise money to ensure they can continue to provide food services to those in need in our community.
The auction will run for a week, culminating in an event at TJ Leland's on Friday, July 26th. Join us there for music and fun, along with winner announcements through the night. If you are a local winner, you will be able to take your items home with you that night! I will also be available to drop off or meet locally to deliver items, and for a small additional fee, your items can be shipped to you.
Additionally, if you would like to help support Wesley House, but aren't interested in bidding on auction items, you can use the "Donate" button in the upper right hand corner to simply make a cash contribution to the sale that will be included in our gift to them.
Item delivery: After you have paid for any auction items that you won, the event organizer will contact you to coordinate delivery. If you attend the final night event, you can pick up your items there. If you cannot attend, but are local, Michael will work with you to deliver or drop off your item(s). If you are not local, an optional, small shipping fee can be applied when you pay and your item will be sent out to you ASAP.
Game tickets will be delivered to the winners electronically, and will require an email address for transfer.
Extended bidding (aka "popcorn bidding") is enabled for this auction. This item will remain open for bidding past the auction close time until it hasn't received a bid for at least ten minutes.
